This famed psychologist, who helped to humanize psychology, also addresses the need for attending to relationships and other human issues in teaching and learning. He emphasizes the creation of a climate of freedom in which teachers can facilitate learning.

Schön, Donald A. Educating the Reflective Practitioner: Toward a New Design for Teaching and Learning in the Professions. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass Publishers, 1987. 355 pages
In Part 1, the author discusses the need for artistry in professional education and how to teach this artistry through reflection-in-action. In Part 2 he uses the architectural studio as an educational model for reflection-in-action. In Part 3 he gives examples from psychoanalytic practice and counseling and consulting that illustrate how the reflective practicum works. In Part 4 he explores the implications of a reflective practicum.
