DR-ED was created as a forum for discussion
and as an information source for those interested in scholarly activity
related to research and faculty development in medical education . It is
maintained at the Office of Medical Education Research and Development (OMERAD)
at Michigan State Univesity, College of Human Medicine.
To subscribe to the list, send an email message. In the body of the message
write "SUBSCRIBE DR-ED <your real name>" (without the quote
marks or brackets). It doesn't matter what, if anything, you put in the
Subject box. Send your message to: LISTSERV@MSU.EDU.
To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the list, just
send email to DR-ED@MSU.EDU. This is
called "sending mail to the list", because you send mail to a
single address and LISTSERV makes copies for all the people who have subscribed.
This address (DR-ED@MSU.EDU) is also called the "list address".
You must never try to send any command to that address, as it would be distributed
to all the people who have subscribed. All commands must be sent to the
"LISTSERV address", LISTSERV@MSU.EDU.
Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get
a list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX DR-ED"
command to LISTSERV@MSU.EDU. You can
then order these files with a "GET DR-ED LOGxxxx" command, or
using LISTSERV's database search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE"
command for more information on the latter.

group available for use by residents, physicians, scientists, faculty, and
those interested in issues on medical school education in general and teaching

On more advanced levels, many of our members are active in clinical and
anatomic pathology, and some are active in research as well. Medical advice
is not available, but interesting cases might be professionally discussed
as teaching vehicles, as might the role of research projects in training.
There are also notices about G.R.I.P.E. The areas of interest are expected
to be varied and to evolve.

The AAMC has established a Listserv to facilitate communication among developers and users of software for medical education - undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education. We intend this to serve as a vehicle for exchange of ideas concerning the development and use of courseware, authoring tools and other infrastructure/technical needs, as well as for considerations of criteria and methods for evaluation.
The Listserve is NOT intended for posting advertisements for commercial courseware and authoring products; those who use the list to do so will be unsubscribed. However, discussions about integrating both commercial and faculty-authored materials into the medical school curriculum are encouraged.
To subscribe to the list send the following message to
subscribe med-ed
For more infromation, contact: Al Salas, AAMC Division of Medical Education
