Colorado Health Professional Loan Repayment
Welcome to the Colorado Health Professional Interactive Loan Repayment website!
The site allows the user to find the loan repayment program that is right for you!
This Colorado specific site is designed to help health professionals and local communities or community organizations understand the health professional loan repayment options available to them. The website focuses on the following four programs, with a questionnaire below to help determine the programs you may qualify for:
- National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
- A federal program requiring a two- year commitment to practice in an urban or rural Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). NHSC provides up to $25,000 per year to primary care providers. Eligible providers include: Primary care, mental health and dental professionals.
- Colorado Rural Outreach Program (CROP)
- A program of the Colorado Medical Society Foundation and managed by the Colorado Rural Health Center . This program requires a community cash match and will pay up to $10,000 per year for three years. Eligible participants must practice in a rural setting. Those eligible include physicians and midlevel providers.
- Colorado Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (CHPLRP)
- Federally funded and administered by the Colorado AHEC Program, CHPLRP provides up to $35,000 per year or $70,000 total per provider for a minimum of two years commitment. Primary care, mental health and dental care providers are eligible for the program. CHPLRP recipients must agree to practice in a rural or urban Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and a community cash match of one-half the total award is required.
- Colorado Dental Loan Repayment Program (DLRP)
- A state program administered through the CDPHE, this program is available to dentists and dental hygienists who agree to served medically underserved populations in rural or urban settings. Dentists are eligible for up to $25,000 and dental hygienists are eligible for up to $6,000.
