Mountain and Plains Partnership
The Mountain and Plains
Partnership (MAPP) is a coalition of 16 higher education institutions,
government agencies and community organizations. The eight education
institution MAPP partners are using various distance learning technologies
to educate "homegrown" Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse-Midwives
and Physician Assistants who are committed to providing primary health
care in underserved rural and low-income urban areas in Colorado,
Wyoming and the bordering states. MAPP began in 1995, with
a 15 month planning grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
(RWJF), on January 1, 1997. MAPP began a six-year Implementation
grant project, with $1.3 million funding from RWJF. MAPP is
one of eight RWJF Partnerships for Training (PFT) Projects. For further
information on the eight RWJF/PFT projects, go to National
Program Office web site. MAPP gratefully acknowledges support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: Partnerships for Training; the State of Colorado's Education Technology Incentive and Continuation Grant Programs and the Technology Learning Grant and Revolving Loan Program; the Area Health Education Centers (AHECs); the Colorado Health Professions Panel; the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center; the University of Phoenix; and the MAPP Partner Education Institutions, Agencies and Organizations.
