Is your online bill depleting you?

Have you ever wasted valuable time being online?

Do you ever print out your entire course?

Did You Know that you can Take a Course Online
Without Being "Online"?!?

Now you can use the cache function of your browser (Netscape or Explorer) to view the internet sites that you have already visited without being online.

This will reduce the actual time spent "online" because you can disconnect your internet connection and still browse the sites that have been saved into temporary files.

To Do This:

1. Make sure your browser is set to save cache files by going into your browser (any internet site).

For Netscape Navigator 4.0 or newer Netscape Icon

Click "Edit" and "Preferences" (located in the upper left corner) as shown below:

Edit Preferences

When this window opens up, double click "Advanced" on the left menu, then click on "Cache" and make sure "Once per session" is checked.

Preferences Window

For Internet Explorer 4.5 or newer Internet Explorer Icon

Click "View" and "Internet Options" (located in the upper left corner) as shown below:

View Internet Options

When this window opens up, click the "General" tab if it is not already chosen. Make sure a number of days to keep in history is selected (as is highlighted).

Internet Options

FOR BOTH NETSCAPE AND INTERNET EXPLORER...

2. Dial onto the Internet and click on and allow to download ALL the sites you will want to browse later.

3. Disconnect your Internet connection, but do not exit your browser (this will delete your cache - memory)

4. You will now be able to further explore all the sites that have the information saved on your cache and be able to do this on your own pace.

Some Further Hints:

How does the cache work?
Data from recently accessed web sites is saved on the hard drive and is pulled off the hard drive if you ask for that information again, instead of taking the time to get it from the Internet. This can really speed up your browsing.
