of Nursing work force Development Opportunities (CANDO)
Note: CANDO was formerly known as
the Colorado Consortium of Nursing Work Force Development (CCNWFD).
CANDO is a membership organization whose mission is to identify
and address nursing work force issues in Colorado through regional
and statewide facilitated collaboration among employers and educators.
Colorado Health Professions
Loan Repayment Program
This program will assist communities
by providing matching funds to repay the educational loans of primary
care physician, dentists, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse-midwives.

FAS/ATOD is a collaborative effort
involving numerous community sectors and health, education, social

Model AHEC Technology Initiative
The Model AHEC project is designed
to promote the use of technology to further the goals of Colorado
AHEC and its constituents. The Model AHEC program provides training
in technology both current and emerging.
Mountain
and Plains Partnership (MAPP)
MAPP, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Partnership for Training initiative, is designed to educate mid-level
clinicians located in rural and urban under-served or low income
communities through distance learning delivery methods.
Research Activities
The
research activities of the Colorado AHEC System have addressed
manpower distribution in medicine, dentistry,
and nursing, and have established baseline standards for evaluating
the long-term impact of educational interventions. Additional
research efforts have included rural/under-served needs assessment
for educational interventions in a variety of fields, the impact
of HIV/AIDS in the rural Rocky Mountain region, and the educational
value of rural/under-served rotations for health professions students.
