Rodent Zoonoses:
A Power Point Presentation with accompanying handouts that provides a brief overview of potential zoonoses associated with research contact with rodents; includes symptoms in rodents and in humans and prevention and protection measures. This presentation is also available in an abbreviated form for Campus Police/Security, Facilities and Housekeeping personnel

Rules and Regulations Governing Animal Research:
A Power Point Presentation summarizing the applicable Federal Regulations and Standards for all animal research conducted at the University. Includes a description of how these regulations and standards fit within the IACUC and OLAR structures, as well as their responsibilities in understanding and enforcing those regulations and standards

Humans as Vectors:
preventing the contamination and recontamination of your research animals: A collection of staged photographs that illustrate, with the aid of a bright red tape "X" how easily a contaminate can be spread around a laboratory. There are a few photos that emphasize proper standard operating procedures for hand washing and for entry/exit of dirty side cagewash.

Occupational Health and Safety for Research Animal Contact:
A Power Point presentation that provides new employees with an overview of the UCD Occupational Health Program for Animal Handlers/Users and provides an introduction to the common hazards associated with animal research and the appropriate prevention or treatment measures.

Allergies:
A Power Point presentation with an accompanying brochure that presents an overview of Laboratory Animal Allergies; including risks, symptoms, prevention and treatment options

Facility specific orientations:
A facility tour with accompanying handouts demonstrating the standard operating procedures and daily operations inside the animal housing facilities. These orientations are required.
