History
The property at East Ninth Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, which currently houses the University of Colorado Denver and University of Colorado Hospital belongs to the Regents of the University of Colorado. The Board of Regents is the governing board of the University of Colorado system.
In June 1998, the University of Colorado Board of Regents announced the formation of the Ninth Avenue and Colorado Boulevard Redevelopment Plan Subcommittee. This group, made up of representatives from the Board, the four campuses of the University, University of Colorado Hospital, the City of Denver, and the surrounding neighborhoods, was charged with identifying the best options for the long-term use of the University of Colorado Denver's Ninth Ave. campus.
Redevelopment criteria
In December 1998, the subcommittee submitted recommendations to the Board of Regents that addressed general principles, policies and goals for the development of the land and buildings located at East Ninth Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The property was divided into four categories, and long-term planning and/or disposition criteria was assigned to each.
