Honorary Proclamation
BILL RITTER, JR.
GOVERNOR
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AWARENESS WEEK
October 11-17, 2009
WHEREAS, assistive technology devices are any items that are used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, assistive technology services are defined as any service that directly assists an individual in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device; and
WHEREAS, Coloradoans of all ages with disabilities may need assistive technology devices and services to live independently and productively, as well as to participate fully in the affairs of their communities; and
WHEREAS, assistive technology devices and services allow people to work, attend school, and live regular, complete, and purposeful lives; and
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado commends the Colorado Assistive Technology Coalition for raising awareness about this life-changing issue, and acknowledges the dedication with which it serves the citizens of this state;
Therefore, I, Bill Ritter, Jr., Governor of the State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim October 11-17, 2009,
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AWARENESS WEEK
in the State of Colorado.
