Turnaround Time: 2 - 4 days.
Minimum Volume: 0.3 mL (at least 0.5 mL preferred).
Specimen Handling: Centrifuge and separate from cells
within 1 hour of drawing. Freeze serum
or plasma.
Interpretive Reference Range: Provided with patient report.
Age dependent.
Use: Useful in diagnosis of cystathionine beta-synthase deficiency,
deficiency of methionine activating
enzyme, or metabolic liver disease.
Methodology: Ion exchange chromatography (amino acid analyzer).
