Availability:  Mon. - Fri., 0800 - 1700
Turnaround Time:  5 - 7 days.
Minimum Volume:  0.5 mL (at least 1.0 mL preferred).
Specimen Handling:  Serum is preferred (red top collection tube).  Centrifuge and separate from cells within 1 hour of drawing.
Freeze serum or plasma.
Interpretive Reference Range:  Normal  < 142 ng/mL.
Use:  Diagnosis of Canavan disease.
Methodology:  Stable isotope dilution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS).
