SEPARATING INSOLUBLE/SOLUBLE FRACTIONS
Kits are available from BioRad and Pierce for separating soluble and insoluble proteins. Please follow the links to the protocols. Before using the protocols you will generally:
- Pellet cells at 500 x g for 3 min. (Make sure you pre-weigh your tubes so you can determine a cell weight).
- Remove supernatant and wash 3-4 times in wash buffer. Remove all supernatant and re-weigh cells to obtain a wet weight.
