Applying to the Biomedical Sciences Program

Applications are due by January 1st. Earlier submissions are encouraged. All parts of the application (Parts I and II, recommendation letters, GRE scores, college transcripts, and $65 application fee) must be received by the Program office by January 1st.. Early completion of applications is highly recommended, in case additional information is required prior to evaluation by the Admissions Committee.

Welcome to the Biomedical Sciences Program admissions site. As members of our “umbrella” program you will have access to over 140 faculty in 13 different PhD graduate programs. For more details, please visit the programs section of our site. When you submit your application, please select two programs in order of your preference. These selections will not limit your research choices if you are admitted as a BSP student. Rather your program selections will help us to find out more about your interests and ensure that when you interview, your visit will be as productive as possible.

Students admitted to the Biomedical Sciences Program receive support in the form of a full stipend of $24,500 a year (July 1st, 2008), health and dental insurance coverage, and full tuition waiver. Outstanding students are eligible for a Hirs Merit Award which provides a stipend of $30,000 per year for up to four years. After the first year, support and funding comes from a variety of sources, including your advisor, and departmental training grants. Out-of-state students are expected to become Colorado residents after one year, and complete their graduate work in no more than seven years. Students are allowed and encouraged to apply for additional support in the form of pre-doctoral grants which will be added as supplements to their stipend.
