Cardiology Grand Rounds
Cardiology Grand Rounds: Director: Dr. Weinberger.Fridays,12pm (noon) –1pm,2nd floor SOM Lecture hall. Lunch is provided.
Program format provides topical information related to clinical practice with a target audience for our faculty and fellows. Nursing and technical staff are invited to attend. Speakers include visiting professors that are selected by the Cardiology Faculty and are sponsored by industry grants. Industry lectures that are considered marketing or promotional are not to be a part of this lecture series as they do not meet our educational goals and are considered biased. UCD faculty from our own Division as well as other divisions relating to enhanced care of cardiac patients also serve as presenters throughout the academic year. This also provides an opportunity for our fellows to learn about the various subspecialty dimensions within our division of cardiology. Fellows and faculty attending AHA, ACC, and HFSA provide a hi-lights overview of these conferences providing opinions on sessions attended. This affords those fellows and faculty who did not attend these conferences to stay informed.CLick below to access the lectures that have been presented in the past.

General Description: This course is designed to present basic information that assists fellows as they begin their experience in Cardiology Fellowship. While the general topics presented are repetitive from year to year, review of course content and lectures is imperative to assure up-to-date information and content of material provides information that is consistent with the highest clinical care standards and curriculum objectives.
Quality Assurance Review Process: The course is reviewed by the Cardiology Education Committee to assure course objectives are met. Surveys are collected from all first year fellow attendees and reviewed by the Medical Course Director and Course Coordinator.
A final report summary is presented to the members of the Cardiology Faculty Education Committee. A final exam is presented to all fellow attendees. The test is then graded and a composite end score is then determined. This composite score along with each fellow’s own graded test is then returned to each fellow attendee. Fellows may review questions with lecture course presenters and/or with the Fellowship Director. A master set of the tests is kept in each individual fellow’s file and coded individual score tally summary sheets are kept on file in with the Cardiology Education Program Director. These tally sheets along with the survey results also assist to determine any change of content or presentation styles that may need to be adjusted to assist in overall improved results.
