There are a tremendous number of researchers in Colorado working on tuberculosis. The research being done in Colorado spans the spectrum from the basic science of the bacillus to initial drug and diagnostic test development and on to clinical trial design and implementation.
However, the investigators and institutions working along this spectrum do not necessarily know each other, thus limiting collaborative efforts. Much has been accomplished, and surely more will be accomplished if we can foster better communication and collaboration along the Front Range.
Therefore, we are organizing a conference called "Colorado Responds to MDR-TB: A Meeting To Foster Collaborative Research on the Front Range", sponsored by the Colorado Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), the University of Colorado Denver Division of Infectious Diseases, Colorado State University and National Jewish Medical and Research Center.
The day-long conference will be on Thursday, August 2nd, 8:00am-5:30pm with a Reception (cash bar and hors d'oeuvres) to follow at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Longmont. The overall goal of the conference is to review the opportunities for research on the diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant TB, particularly those that might benefit from collaborative efforts of investigators working in different institutions.
We will be inviting investigators from the University of Colorado Denver, National Jewish Medical and Research Center, Colorado State University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, Denver Public Health, and biotech firms from the Front Range.
