September   Attend CSD Retreat
Towards end of rotation section 1   Rehearse seminar with mentor, give post-rotational talk
Two weeks before end of rotation section 1   Select second rotation mentor and notify GAC chair
Two weeks before end of semester   Register for spring:
  • CSDV 7605 (Developmental Biology)
  • CSDV 7650 (rotation-section 3-1unit)
  • Elective

  • CSDV 7650 (research in CSD) - 1hr to be taken every semester until post-comps (then take CSDV 8990)
June 15th   Notify GAC Chair and Carmel Harberg of choice of thesis advisor. Official transfer to thesis lab must take place by July 1st.
June   Take Preliminary Examination Parts I and II. Date is set by Graduate School
Start of semester   Begin research in thesis lab
Towards end of semester   RSVP/make arrangements to attend CSD retreat in September
Two weeks before the end of the semester   Register for fall of second year:
  • CSDV 7670 Advanced Topics Course (must take one Advanced Topics Course per year and register for 5 credit hours total in fall and spring*)

*Note: We recommend that students take their comprehensive exam during the summer of the 2nd year, but the exam must be completed by the end of January 1 of the third year.
