Service and Outreach

Outreach Mission Statement

The mission of Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB) department’s community outreach is to increase support for and enhance knowledge of cell and developmental biology in general as well as the specific research and teaching programs of CDB at the University of Colorado Denver.  Through public outreach, including fundraising, education, private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, CDB tries to build long-term relationships with the community.  We know that public support is raised by enhancing the positive image and institutional presence of the department through various media and by developing relationships that provide an opportunity to share our mission.

Human Simulation

The Center for Human Simulation (CHS) is a synthesis of human anatomy and computed three-dimensional imaging. This synthesis provides a three-dimensional, high resolution database of human male and female anatomy (the Visible Human) as derived from direct analysis of anatomical specimens and radiological imaging.  This powerful teaching tool is widely used to teach students ranging from grade school to medical residents.
