Facilities

The University of Colorado Denver ranks among the top 20 medical centers in the country in terms of biomedical research funding and facilities. The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB) is located on the new Anschutz Medical Campus. The new campus is a redevelopment of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and includes administrative, research, clinical, and teaching activities. The transformation of the old Fitzsimons is the largest medically-related redevelopment project in the United States and represents a $4.3 billion dollar investment in science research and education. The 160 acre Colorado Bioscience Park campus is adjacent to the Anschutz Medical Campus, providing easy access and enhanced opportunities for partnerships with the biotechnology industry.

The Department occupies over 38,000 square feet of research, meeting, education and administrative space, mainly on the 11th and 12th floors of Research Complex Tower 1 South building (RC1 South). The space includes research labs; dark rooms; hoods; research cores; instruction and training rooms; and faculty and administrative offices. A large number of university core facilities provide additional technical support.
