Thesis Advisor: Alexander Sorkin

Research Interests:
The Sorkin laboratory researches endocytosis and trafficking of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor and dopamine transporter (DAT). My current focus is on the relationship between EGF receptor endocytosis and mitogenic signaling in human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cell lines. Given that (1) 90% of HNSCC overexpress EGF receptor and (2) such phenotypic changes often correlate with poor prognostic outcome, study of EGF receptor in these cell lines may provide the basis to new therapeutic approaches to head and neck cancer.

General Interests:
Piano, movies, music, reading, painting, gardening, travel, NFL football, and family.
