We recommend that you apply as soon as prerequisite coursework for application is complete!
September – early December: On campus Interviews
December through May: Notification of Selection
Summer Semester: Start of Class
Potential applicants must demonstrate adequate preparedness to undertake the rigorous, accelerated program curriculum. Completion of prerequisite coursework, overall grade point averages, science grade point averages, competitive graduate record exam scores in addition to interviews, essays, and letters of recommendation are highly considered in the admissions process. Positions are offered to applicants who appear to be the most highly qualified in terms of intellectual growth and achievement, character, motivation, maturity, and emotional stability. Invitations for interviews are extended to those applicants who appear to have a good chance of being accepted to the program. Applicants may not be accepted without a personal interview. We will attempt to accomodate special interview scheduling requests, however, this is not guaranteed.
Following the receipt of all documents, competitive applicants are invited to the campus for a personal interview to be conducted during the fall semester. Offers of acceptance are typically made between December and May. Each applicant offered a position in the class, must acknowledge acceptance no later than the prescribed time in the acceptance letter, generally 10 business days. A non-refundable $200 tuition deposit must accompany the acceptance, in addition to a fee of $50 for a criminal background investigation. Final acceptance is contingent upon passing a criminal background investigation and receipt of final transcripts for all outstanding prerequisites.
A variety of undergraduate majors are acceptable. There are no special preferences given to science over non-science majors or graduate level degrees over baccalaureate degrees. Demonstration of good performance in prerequisite courses is essential for preparation.
A maximum of forty positions are offered annually. Up to twenty-five percent of the class may be enrolled in the rural track. The majority of students in the program are Colorado residents. Preference is given to applicants from certain western states participating in the WICHE program and highly qualified applicants from out of state. All students must meet the technical standards of the CHA/PA Program.
