Each year there is an increase in tuition as decided by the regents of the University of Colorado. We expect the increase to be between 3 and 10% each year. Changes in the tuition rate are usually available in May. The current rate of tuition is $278/credit hr for residents and $600/credit hr for nonresidents.
Other Required Fees and Expenses:
Student Health Insurance and Health Service Plan: $2,200
All students are required to carry health insurance. If your current policy meets the University’s standard of coverage, you may be exempt from this cost. See http://www.uchsc.edu/studentinsurance/index.htm for more information.
Equipment and books are estimated at $2200 for the first year and $1300 for the second year.
Other costs of attendance include living expenses, parking and transportation. For more information on the estimation of these costs, please visit the UCHSC financial aid website.
Exact breakdown of tuition and fees is available at the bursar's website.
Colorado Residency
Residency requirements are set by the Colorado legislature. Requirements for residency tuition are available at the registrar's website. Students starting the program as non-residents may apply for residency tuition for the semester after residency is established.
Financial Aid
Government loans and scholarships are available, but limited. UCHSC Financial Aid applications are available to accepted CHA/PA students. If financial aid is needed, applicants MUST file the FAFSA form available at most colleges and high schools in spring 2006. The Health Sciences Center financial aid officers will work with students in need of financial assistance once they are accepted into the program.

Scholarships
Henry Silver Diversity Scholarship : Two scholarships honoring our founder, Dr. Henry Silver, are available when funded. A $9000 scholarship providing $3000 per year and a $4500 scholarship providing $1500 per year for each of the CHAPA program's 3 years. Diversity is defined in broad terms. Colorado Residents are given preference in determining this scholarship.
National Western Stock Show Scholarship : This generous scholarship is available competitively and requires commitment to work in a rural Colorado/Wyoming area for 2 years following graduation. The scholarship award provides $4,500 per year for a total of $13,500. It is limited to rural track applicants in the CHA/PA Program with preference of residents from Colorado and Wyoming.
Small scholarships are available from time to time throughout the three years for matriculating students.
The PA Foundation, constituent organizations, and specialty organizations offer scholarships to matriculating students. In addition, other opportunities may be found through the UCHSC Office of Diversity. While these scholarships are helpful, a student can not depend on them for financing their education.
