SUSAN M. JONES, Ph.D

   I am interested in the mechanisms involved in neurodegeneration. Currently, we are examining the role of brain NADPH oxidase in generating superoxide radical in response to the neurotoxin MPP+. We are using an immortalized cell line of rat midbrain dopaminergic cells to examine the signaling pathways leading to ROS production, as well as pathways that may potentially mediate ROS after it is produced. Basic understanding of these processes may yield information about targets for neuroprotective therapies.
