PhD Credit Transfer Allowance
All requested credit transfers must have a minimum grade of B and have been completed within the past five years in an accredited university program. Any student may request up to 2 elective courses (up to 4 semester credits equivalent) of graduate course work at the 6500 level or higher to be transferred. For core course equivalents (where documented equivalency has been evaluated), any CU-based courses may transfer with the written approval by the academic advisor and Ph.D. Program Director. Students that transfer in from other CU-based graduate programs may transfer ANY of the identical courses (based on written documentation from either the CLSC Program advisor or the BIOS/PRMD Program course director that teaches the relevant course for transfer requested). For the Ph.D. Program, there is no maximum of CU-based semester credits from CLSC courses that may be transferred, as long as all minimum curriculum requirements are met. In summary, students are encouraged to transfer in credits from other CU-based programs or from the CLSC Certificate Program as a natural progression in their advanced academic training.
PhD Enrollment Limits
To avoid an adverse impact on other lab-based programs and General Clinical Research Center program activities, the number of students enrolled in the CLSC PhD Program’s CI-track may be limited to maximum of 3 per year. Additionally, certain courses may be limited such as the laboratory course (CLSC 7500 “Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory Techniques in Clinical Science”), which is taught only during the summer session. The “hands-on” lab environment with close interaction of course directors and students facilitates in-depth learning. Students interested in taking CLSC 7500 on a trial basis as a special student are welcome each summer to participate in order to initiate their progress forward in the CI-track.
Master's Credit Transfer Allowance
All requested credit transfers must have a minimum grade of B and have been completed within the past five years. Any student may request up to 2 elective courses (up to 4 semester credits) of graduate course work at the 6000 level or higher to be transferred. For core course equivalents (where documented equivalency has been evaluated), up to 12 semester credit hours may be used towards the MSCS degree with written approval by the academic advisor.
Students that transfer in from other CU-based graduate programs may transfer ANY of the identical courses that are required as MSCS core courses, up to a maximum of 12 semester credits. Students are encouraged to transfer in credits from other CU-based programs or from the CLSC Certificate Program as a natural progression in their advanced academic training. All requested credit transfers must have a minimum grade of B and have been completed within the past five years in an accredited university program.
Master's Enrollment Limits
To avoid an adverse impact on other lab-based programs and General Clinical Research Center program activities, the number of students enrolled in the MSCS is a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 15 per year.
Additionally, certain courses may be limited such as the laboratory course (CLSC 7500 “Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory Techniques in Clinical Science”), which is taught only during the summer session.
