Clinical Science
Master's Program: Clinical Investigation Track

The Master of Science in Clinical Science (MSCS) involves courses of the Clinical Investigation (CI) track which focus on new methods of diagnosis and treatment of patients. Clinical investigation is the discipline by which academic physicians and other health care professionals translate knowledge gained in basic science laboratories both to develop preventive interventions for diseases and to improve the outcome of diseases in patients. Clinical investigation is clearly a primary mission of academic medical centers. Properly trained physicians and other health care professionals (who have clinical backgrounds) will be uniquely qualified to engage in these MSCS studies. The disciplines required to become proficient in this area of clinical science include biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, clinical trial design, ethics, grant writing, bio-pharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetics.
