Clinical Science
Master's Program: Overview
The purpose of this new Master of Science in Clinical Science (MSCS) is to broaden the continuum of opportunities for rigorous advanced academic training and mentored research project experiences to medical students and clinical trainees (residents or fellows) or faculty.
The new MSCS degree focuses on applying knowledge to a specific research project question, utilizing the Clinical Investigation (CI) Track curriculum. MSCS students may pursue an academic or research career or explore an industry-based career. With the MSCS expanded academic training, a graduate may serve as a collaborator or research project team member who is responsible for a significant dimension of a multi-center research project.
In summary, the MSCS will develop a larger cadre of clinician scientists with a focus on both GCRC and laboratory-based findings and on translating these findings in a clinically-relevant manner to the bedside in order to improve the clinical care processes. These investigators will emerge with the required knowledge, skills, and experiences to be more successful in publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts and competing for NIH grant funding.
The application for this master's program is on-line format. Please visit the on-line registration service, ApplyYourself, to create an account and access the application and instructions.
