PhD Program: Health Services Research (HSR) Track
The Health Services Research (HSR) track focuses on efficacy, outcomes, and cost efficiency of diagnostic, preventive, interventionist and therapeutic approaches in patients. This discipline evaluates delivery, organization, and reimbursement in health care. Costs and access to care, outcomes, and patient satisfaction are studied end-points. Predictors of disease or poor outcomes are also commonly studied. Within the HSR track, formal training occurs in the following cross disciplines:

- Biostatistics
- Clinical epidemiology
- Study designs
- Health policy
- Health economics

The Health Services Research (HSR) PhD discipline is a collaborative program between Clinical Sciences and the Health Systems Management and Policy department within the Colorado School of Public Health. HSR is an inter-disciplinary program that evaluates organization, delivery, and reimbursement in health care. Studies focus on the efficacy and effectiveness of diagnostic, preventive, interventional, and therapeutic approaches. HSR study endpoints often include quality, cost, and access to care.
