Transplant Monitoring

The Flow Cytometry Laboratory at ClinImmune Labs and The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at The Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado (see brochure), offer integrated transplant engraftment monitoring services to Blood and Marrow Transplantation Programs.

  • Sorting: ClinImmune Labs sorts the cells, including CD3 and CD33 separation at >96% purity on a FACSAria. Sorting can significantly increase the sensitivity of the chimerism test and allows the physician to evaluate specific subpopulations of cells.

  • Chimerism Testing: The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory assays for utilizing quantitative, polymerase chain reaction/fragment analysis by capillary electrophoresis. PCR Chimerism analysis is performed using the Beckman Coulter Vidiera™NSD Chimeric DNA Analyte Specific Reagent.

  • Chimerism Testing without sorting: Specimens are forwarded to the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory for testing if sorting is not requested.

Advantages of our One-Stop Service for Transplant Monitoring Services:

    1. One consolidated requisition form tailored for each program simplifies the often-cumbersome separate request processes for sorting and chimerism testing.

    2. Results provided within 3 to 5 days of receiving specimens.

    3. Specimens accepted for testing 6 days per week, Monday morning through Saturday morning.

    4. Comparative reports provided for subsequent specimens.

    5. Availability of Cylex Immune Function Test, ImmunKnow™ which is approved by the FDA for measuring cell-mediated immunity in an immunosuppressed patient.
