The Office of Continuing Medical Education of the University of Colorado School of Medicine respects and values your privacy and the confidentiality of the information you choose to share with us. We are committed to protection of this information and will assure your privacy when participating in CME activities on our Web site.

We do not collect any personal information about a visit unless that information is provided voluntarily.

Information Collected and Purpose

We may collect the following information from visitors to our internet site:

  • Aggregate Information on what web pages are visited in order to assess and improve the content of our site.
  • Our Web server does not automatically recognize information regarding individual users, e.g., domain name or email address.
  • We do not set any “cookies” to track visitor’s identification or use of the site.

When visitors register on-line for CME activities:

  • If you decide to register for one of our course offerings, we will collect personal information that you voluntarily share with us. If a fee is charged and registrants pay online, we ask for credit information. This information is transferred using secure encryption technology. We do not disclose credit card account information or activity provided by our registrants.
  • We keep confidential any personal information that you provide to us. This information includes your name, postal and e-mail addresses, and telephone/fax numbers. The personal information you provide is stored in a secure location and only authorized staff in the Office of CME are able to access it. We do not share our registrants’ information with other institutions, except as may be required by law. However, your name may be published in the list of registrants in the syllabus of the particular course for which you have registered.

When visitors participate in an on-line CME activity:

  • We ask participants to complete a knowledge test and we ask them to evaluate the CME activity providing feedback to us on the educational value of the activity.

Needs Assessment:

  • From time-to-time we may use this web site, in the form of brief surveys, to obtain needs assessment data which drive the determination of CME activities that lead to higher standards of patient care and services consistent with the current healthcare environment.

Changes in Policy

As our Internet site evolves, we may collect additional information or may use information in new ways. If our information practices change, we will modify this policy statement and use for these new purposes only data collected from the time of the policy change forward.

Security

The Office of CME maintains safeguards to store and secure information it has about its CME activity registrants. The safeguards may be physical, electronic or procedural. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you.

Other Internet Sites

We provide links to other Web sites that may have privacy policies that are different from ours and not affiliated with the Office of CME or the University of Colorado. We are not responsible for the content or privacy policies of those sites. We do offer some online courses through third-party providers; UCD is not responsible for their privacy policies. It is the participant’s responsibility to learn the privacy and data collection policies of these third-party providers.

Audience

CME activities are intended primarily for physicians and other healthcare professionals representing primary and specialty care. Regional, national, and in some cases, international programs, will be conducted. Multidisciplinary allied healthcare professionals also may be targeted for relevant activities.

Activities

All CME program designs will be conducted according to adult education principles and practices using creative and state-of-the-art educational delivery technology and include evaluation of each activity and of the overall CME program. Whenever feasible, measurement of changes in physician behavior and clinical outcomes will be examined. Innovative educational design will include a variety of modalities to complement different learning styles and needs, including self-directed learning and CME enduring materials. Activities will also be aimed at faculty and professional development, including excellence in professional education teaching, research and evaluation.
