The annual John A. Hartford Foundation site visit evaluation of the Hartford/Jahnigen
Center of Excellence (COE) program will be held on January 19, 2005. Donna
Regenstreif, Senior Program Officer with the Hartford Foundation, will be conducting
the visit.
The annual John A. Hartford The 2005 Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Geriatrics Society will be held May 11-15, 2005 at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The Annual AGS Meeting provides the latest information on clinical care, aging-related research, and care delivery models, and offers opportunities for clinicians, researchers, and educators to keep abreast of new developments in aging research. The Dennis W. Jahnigen
The Dennis W. Jahnigen Memorial Education Fund Annual Award Program was created in
honor of UCD Center on Aging founder Dennis W. Jahnigen, MD, to promote interest
and knowledge in the discipline of geriatrics among students, residents, and fellows
at UCD. All UCD students who are in their clinical year(s), as well as residents
and fellows, may apply for this award. The number and dollar amount of awards varies
yearly dependent on applicant submissions, requests, needs, and committee
determinations.

The Division of Health Care Policy and Research was established within the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver in January 2002. Under the leadership of Andrew Kramer, MD, the Division merged two nationally recognized programs: the health policy research and training program formed by Dr. Kramer within the Division of Geriatric Medicine, and the Center for Health Services Research, which was founded by Peter W. Shaughnessy.

The mission of the Division is to improve health care services, organization, and policy through research and
education. With a multidisciplinary staff of nearly 70 social scientists, physicians, nurses, research
analysts, statisticians, and other professionals, the Division has influenced state and national policy
through their research in a number of areas, some of which include: quality of care assessment, assurance
and improvement; health care reimbursement and regulations; ethnic disparities in health care; cognitive and
behavioral factors in health; and health information technology and telehealth.
