Senior Professional Research Assistant
NATURE OF WORK
This Senior Professional Research Assistant (SrPRA) is a faculty research position with primary duties to conduct research and is not involved in the instructional program. The position is not eligible for tenure. An employee in this position can be terminated at any time without notice and severance pay may not be provided. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SrPRA Study coordinator to manage two or three projects related to assessing surgical outcomes for children undergoing surgery. At least one project will involve orthopedic surgical outcomes. The research will primarily involve analysis of large population-based datasets with clinical investigators from The Children's Hospital. We are interested in identifying effective strategies for translating research into practice in order to improve surgical outcomes for children. The research will inform the design of prospective surgical outcomes studies.
The incumbent will assist in all phases of study design (e.g., literature reviews, grant writing, budget preparation), implementation (e.g., developing human subjects protocols and project materials, data collection and tracking, practice recruitment, budget administration, supervise research support staff) and dissemination (e.g., creating presentations, writing final reports and manuscripts). The following is a list of primary duties required of this position:
Planning and management of outcomes research projects involving pediatric surgical outcomes, 50% of the time will involve orthopedic surgery projects. Consulting with surgeon investigators at The Children's Hospital on mixed method outcomes research methodology and Project planning (e.g. developing scope of work, identifying design. project tasks, designing protocols, identifying prospective problems). Manage all phases of research studies (e.g. project implementation, budget development and administration, human subjects administration, maintain project files, supervise of research support staff, report writing, recruitment of subjects, prepare project materials). Prepare IRB application materials (e.g. full protocol, surveys, advertisements, CVs, protocol application, amendments and conduct quantitative data analysis using large continuing reviews). population-based datasets. Develop and manage tracking databases. Survey development. Conduct literature searches and systematic reviews. Grants coordination and management of NIH submissions and awards. Grant writing and proposal preparation (federal and private foundation applications). Manuscript writing, formatting and submission.
Facilitate project meetings. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly Consult with project members and/or clients to progress reports. Develop project/evaluation plans and to implement project activities. Keep current with institutional and agency policies regarding grants and contracts, grant submissions, IRB requirements, and HIPAA regulations. Seek funding opportunities.
