Hosted by UC Denver

The Centers for Obesity Research and Education (C.O.R.E.) was formed in 1998 to provide guidance and training for health care providers on how to manage their obese patients.

C.O.R.E. includes twelve of the leading centers involved in the management of overweight and obesity in the United States. Working in collaboration, these nationally recognized centers have combined their abilities resulting in the creation of high-quality, hands-on, interactive workshops for practitioners in the medical community.

C.O.R.E. conducts monthly workshops targeted to physicians, nurses, and other health care providers interested in enhancing overweight and obesity treatment in their practice. Workshops are based on the latest clinical and behavioral research, and because they are held in small group settings, the experience is hands-on and interactive. Participants are able to incorporate practical information and tools into their practice immediately.

Mission Statement

In response to the need to address obesity as a major threat to the public health, the Centers for Obesity Research and Education strive to:
  1. Provide timely, relevant education and training about obesity and its management to primary care physicians and other health care professionals in our communities.
  2. Be an educational and informational resource in the field of obesity, nationally and in the individual communities we serve.
  3. Raise the public awareness about the problem of obesity and the risk of excess weight including options for prevention and management in fostering health improvement.
