Workshops

To attain the goals set in mission statement; C.O.R.E. workshops are held across the United States on a monthly basis. C.O.R.E. workshops focus on interactive rather than didactic learning techniques in small group settings. Workshop topics include:
  • Review of the NIH-NHLBI obesity treatment guidelines
  • Physician/health care provider as an agent of change
  • Providing an empathetic environment
  • Skill-building in effective counseling/communication techniques
  • Patient assessment
  • State-of-the-art approaches to nutrition therapy and exercise
  • Long-term approaches to weight loss and weight maintenance including medication and surgery.

Participants are provided with C.O.R.E. materials to help them begin to incorporate obesity assessment and management into their practice. In addition, local resources for obesity management are provided to the participants. Workshops are approximately four hours in duration, and CME credit is available. Pre and post-evaluations are completed to assess workshop effectiveness.

Upon completion of the workshop, the health care provider will be prepared to institute a plan on how to evaluate, treat, and manage overweight and obese patients in their practice.

See the Calendar for upcoming workshop dates in your area.
