Re: 9th Ave. Emergency Phone Number
This message is for all employees and students at the UCHSC/UCH 9th Ave. Campus.
ATTENTION ALL UCHSC/UCH
EMPLOYEES & STUDENTS
THE ENTIRE UCHSC/UCH CAMPUS PHONE SYSTEMS ON 9TH AVE.
WILL BE CONVERTING TO THE 911 EMERGENCY SYSTEM
As of September 5th, 2000 at 8 AM we
will no longer use 58888 for emergency access to the UCHSC Police Department. We
will use 911.
Why the change?
- Uniform procedures for all UCHSC/UCH
sites: Fitzsimons is already on 911.
- Dialing 911 for emergencies is a
common practice on or off campus.
- Previously if you dialed 911, you
would reach Denver Dispatch, leaving the UCHSC Police out of the response
completely or delaying the response. The UCHSC Police are integral to all
emergency responses either directly, or to coordinate the services of
responding ambulances or other
emergency services.
What happens when
you dial 911 or 9-911 after Sept. 5th?
- The call goes to UCHSC Police
Dispatch.
- UCHSC Police Dispatch will
coordinate emergency response services.
- UCHSC Police Dispatch will send
police.
What happens
if you dial 5-8888 after Sept. 5th?
- You will still reach UCHSC Police
Dispatch in a non-emergency capacity.
What happens with
non campus phones on campus, or off site?
- These calls will still be routed to
Denver Dispatch.
- Off site locations will get the
local police jurisdiction.
- A follow up call to UCHSC Dispatch
is still required.
Do we still use the
2-5555 number for the COR Team Response in UCH Main Hospital?
- YES! The COR Team will still be
accessed by dialing 2-5555.
- If you dial 911, UCHSC Dispatch will
forward to 2-5555, and send police.
- The COR TEAM is only at UCH Main
Hospital, all other areas including Fitzsimons will be calling 911 for
access to a paramedic response.
