What is it?
The
University of Colorado Denver -Office of
Diversity, will host a pre-health profession seminar on
October 21, 2006. The seminar is entitled Minority Health
Professions
Opportunity Day. It
is open to all High School students, regardless of race,
ethnicity, gender, religion, etc. It will unite 100 diverse
high school students from around the state for an in-depth look at
the different health fields.
What will we do there?
Workshops will include a student panel, speakers, and hands-on
activities that will introduce students to different health field
and opportunities in higher education. It is our intent to
present students with the opportunity to explore the many
possibilities in the health careers and learn about the
educational path one must take to reach his or her ultimate goal
in life. Information will be presented in such a way that
they will continue to seek out means of educating themselves and
getting involved in their communities in the future.
How much will it cost?
The
program is FREE to all participants, including a
continental breakfast and lunch. All activities will be
monitored and supervised by UCD staff members, as well as
college student mentors from the various programs and
organizations. Students will be expected to sign a
Release from Responsibility Waiver form and follow a strict
set of rules while at the seminar.
How can I
reserve space?
Spots for the conference are limited to 100 students, and
students will be selected on a first come- first serve basis.
Thus, it is extremely important that interested students
register early. The deadline for registration is
October 13th.
