Welcome to the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center!

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Colorado at Denver is a internationally renowned program that provides comprehensive resources for the diagnosis and therapy of diseases of the digestive tract, pancreas and liver. Our mission is to facilitate the development of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, education, and research programs in digestive and liver disease. The Division is a robust academic unit, with 58 full-time faculty and 15 fellows in training who work at University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center, Denver Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and Denver Health Medical Center.

The clinical and research focus of the Division is on the following programmatic areas: general gastroenterology, advanced interventional endoscopy, hepatology and liver transplantation, gastrointestinal oncology, gastrointestinal motility and physiology. The annual research support, derived from federal and industry sponsorship, is approximately $4M. The Division has recently recruited faculty with interest in nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, advanced interventional endoscopy and women's health issues, which has expanded our already...

The Division also participates intensively in the education and training of undergraduate students, medical and graduate students, combined degree students, medical residents and GI fellows. GI fellows are recruited from outstanding medical residency programs, and the GI fellowship is supported through an NIH T32 training grant, now in its third decade.
