1. How much sick leave do residents get?

GME does not provide a specific number of paid sick days. Sick leave arrangements must be made at the program level according to the program specific needs.

2. How do I write a Probation Letter?

Probation letters must contain specific items that are described in the Probation Policy. It is highly recommended that Program Directors use the Office of GME Probation Letter template. This letter can be obtained by calling Gail Silber at 303-724-6025. For details about Probation please see the policy in the House Staff Manual.

3. How do I put someone on probation?

4. What is our leave policy?

There is a full description of Leave in the current Housestaff Manual. In summary, 3 weeks vacation for everyone; 1 week education leave for Level II and above; Family Medical Leave (FMLA) for anyone who has been here for 12 months- please contact Gail Silber when someone requests FMLA.

5. I need to pay a resident that work some extra hours for us, what is the process?

Get blank one-time-payment forms off the web (www.cu.edu/forms) fill out and send forms to GME each month before the tenth.

6. Can we order a training certificate after March?

We can order a certificate at anytime when a resident/fellow terminates.

7. Can a resident spend his book allowance on equipment?

The funds should only be used for books, travel, computer training, palm pilots, educational software and educational expenses.
