Cari Levy, MD
is a board certified internist, geriatrician and health services researcher. Her research focuses
on end-of-life care in nursing homes. Dr. Levy graduated from Pepperdine University with a degree
in biology in 1993. She then attended medical school at the University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Levy began her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University
in 1997 and served as Chief Resident in 2001. She then returned to Colorado for a fellowship in
geriatrics. Following fellowship she became an assistant professor in the Division of Health
Care Policy and Research. She has published research regarding end of life care in nursing
homes and physician practice patterns in nursing homes. In November 2006 she was awarded a
VA Career Development Award in Health Services Research and Development. This award will
allow her to explore how end-of-life care is provided to veterans residing in nursing home
care units.
