Carla Parry, Ph.D., MSW, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at
the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. She received a joint doctorate in Medical
Sociology and Social Work from the University of Michigan, where she trained in psycho-oncology,
gerontology, and applied/policy initiatives.
Dr. Parry joined UCDHSC’s Division of Health Care Policy and Research in 2002 and has since pursued
her research in psycho-oncology, cancer survivorship, intervention design, measurement, and care
transitions. She currently holds a grant from the National Cancer Institute exploring the intersection
of quality of life, service needs, psycho-spiritual growth (thriving) and lifespan issues in Leukemia
and Lymphoma Survivors. In addition, she works with Dr. Eric Coleman in training and dissemination
of the Care Transitions Model and with Dr. Kristin Kilbourn on the EASE and ASSIST studies-focused
on telephonic psychosocial interventions with cancer patients.
