Access Procedures for HIPAA 101:

1. Go to CU Online at www.cuonline.edu.
    
2. Click on "Course Login" on the left side of the CU Online home page. 
    
3. A Course Login page will appear, click on "Blackboard Course Login".
    
4. Click the gray "Login" button on the left.
    
5. A Blackboard login screen should appear asking for your username and password.
    
6. Enter your six digit employee ID number as both username and password.  (If you are a student use your student ID number as your username and your PIN number as your password.)
    
7. Click the "Login" button if your information is correct on the screen.
    
8. Select the HIPAA 101 course by clicking "HIPAA Training Course". On the next screen select "Click here to start!"

NOTE: You can access the HIPAA quiz from the course by closing the course page that you are studying. You close the course page window by clicking the “X” box in the upper right corner. Wait until you have completed all three modules before you take the quiz.  

Access Procedures for HIPAA 201 (UCD HIPAA Research Course):

1. Go to http://www.cuonline.edu.
    
2. Click on "Course Login" link.
    
3. Click on the "Blackboard Course Login" link.
    
4. Click on the gray "Login" button.
    
5. Enter your six-digit employee ID as both username and password. (If you are a COMIRB investigator but not a UCD employee, use your COM# as both login and password.) Click "Login".
    
6. Click on the Research course link: HIPAA Research Course CU Health Sciences Center.
    
7. You are now in the Research course and can begin the course by clicking the “Click here to start” link.

How to Enter the UCD HIPAA Research Course if you are NOT a COMIRB Investigator but ARE a CU employee:

1. Go to https://blackboard.cudenver.edu.

2. Click on the "Login" button.

3. Enter your six-digit UCD employee ID as both username and password. Click "Login".

4. Select the "Course Catalog" tab from the top of the page.

5. Click on the "Health Sciences Center Campus Courses" link.

6. Scroll down to the HIPAA Research Course CU Health Sciences Center  link but click on the "Enroll" button to the right of the course title.  (Do not click on the course link).

7. Click "Submit" and then click "OK" on the next page.

8. You are now in the Research course and can being the course by clicking the “Click here to start” link.

If you have enrolled in HIPAA courses before:

1. Go to CU Online at www.cuonline.edu.
    
2. Click on Course Login on the left side of the CU Online home page.
    
3. A Course Login page will appear, click on Blackboard Course Login.
    
4. Click the gray Login button on the left, and a Blackboard login screen should appear asking you for your username and password.
    
5. Enter your six digit employee ID in the username and password spaces.  Then click the gray Login button on the right. You should see a welcome screen.
    
6. Under the Courses section on the right, click the "HIPAA Training Course" title in blue. If you click that link, a course screen should appear showing you the HIPAA 101 course, the Test Your HIPAA Hipness quiz, and a course evaluation. NOTE: if you do not see HIPAA Training Course listed under Courses, click the Courses Catalog tab and enroll in the HIPAA Training Course - CU Health Sciences Center.  (Be careful NOT to select the HIPAA Research Course - that is HIPAA 201).
    
7. Click on the HIPAA 101 course, where it says "Click here to start!" You should see a welcome screen to the HIPAA course. Click the course title in the upper left corner to start the course.

NOTE: You can access the HIPAA quiz from the course by closing the course page that you are studying. You close the course page window by clicking the “X” box in the upper right corner. Wait until you have completed all three modules before you take the quiz.
