The immunology graduate students at UCD are a diverse and interactive group of people. We are an integral part of planning departmental events and student functions. For this reason, we initiated and organized ourselves in 2006 into what is known as the Immunology Graduate Student Board (IGSB). In that year we gained recognition from the Immunology Faculty, the Dean of the Graduate School and the greater Graduate Student Council.
The IGSB is a representative governing body of graduate students serving one-year terms in a variety of offices. Our mission is to present cohesive communication of immunology student concerns to the appropriate faculty committees and to provide an organized forum for graduate student participation. The 11 officers meet quarterly to discuss progress and obstacles faced in their positions and to cooperatively improve student life. As a team, the IGSB has prompted changes in student examination procedures, the recruitment of new students, and enhanced the communication between our campuses and our faculty committees. The IGSB was given control of their own budget, which was used to sponsor the first student initiated Careers in Science Seminar Series in our inaugural year. In the current year, we have worked closely with the Graduate Student Council and have successfully coordinated upcoming events.
The quarterly meetings are open to all graduate students to attend and voice their opinions. Find out what your officers are doing for you. Attend a meeting and read the minutes provided on the website.
