Sprouty is an interesting scaffolding protein discovered about a decade ago in Drosophila. It is a known inhibitor of receptor tyrosine kinase mediated signaling, particularly FGF and VEGF. However, in response to EGFR signaling, sprouty is known to enhance and/or inhibit downstream signaling. My project involves studying role of sprouty in regulating sustained ERK activation in airway epithelial cells following repeated IL-13 stimulations.
