UCD DERC Molecular Biology Core

The objective of the DERC Molecular Biology Core Laboratory is to facilitate and promote the application of contemporary molecular biological techniques to existing endocrinology and diabetes research programs at University of Colorado Denver and its affiliated institutions. Diabetes researchers in our Research Base come from diverse clinical and scientific backgrounds including immunology, epidemiology, genetics, surgery, developmental biology, biochemistry, cellular biology, and molecular biology. The Core provides researchers with the most up-to-date and innovative molecular biology techniques which include:

  • Automated DNA sequencing
  • Automated fragment analysis (microsatellite, AFLP and SNP analysis)
  • Speed Congenics
  • Real-time PCR analysis with HRM
  • in-situ probe generation
  • Basic and Custom molecular services
  • Large scale recombinant protein expression and purification

In addition to providing molecular services, the Core provides hands-on training of many molecular biology techniques where researchers and their staff can gain basic skills working on projects specifically related to their interests. Consultation services are also provided for advanced training and collaboration.
