Year you started the Neuroscience Program: 2006

Why you chose the UC Denver Neuroscience Program: I decided on UCD Neuroscience Training Program because it allowed me to go to a world class neuroscience program and continue to do the research I was doing.

What labs you rotated in: Diego Restrepo, Sukumar Vijayaraghavan, and Alberto Costa

What lab you joined and why: Alberto Costa. I am very interested in research in Down syndrome.

Short description of your project: I am interested in the underling cause of the learning and memory deficits associated with Down syndrome. I use electrophysiological and behavioral techniques to characterize LTP and LTD in a mouse model for DS.

Where you attended undergrad and what your major/minor(s) were: All over, but I graduated from the Metropolitan State College of Denver. My major was in biological sciences and my minor was in chemistry.

What you did (if anything) between undergrad and grad school: I went on to receive my Masters of Science in biological sciences from the University of Denver.

Other school affiliated activities/clubs you are involved in: Neuroscience Retreat Planning Committee

What you like to do outside of school: I like to do all the normal Colorado activities: hiking, camping, fishing, and snowboarding.
