Why you chose the UC Denver Neuroscience Program: Competitive MD/PhD program and I have a background in neuroscience. Everyone in the neuroscience program seemed bright and welcoming. People are doing great research in the department.

What labs you rotated in: Manisha Patel, PhD; Nathan Schoppa, PhD

What lab you joined and why: Schoppa Lab

  1. amazing advisor who's understanding, motivating without making demands, and really interested in teaching his students
  2. got along well with others in the lab
  3. really liked neurophysiology and the electrophysiological tools such as patch clamping

Short description of your project: Noradrenaline modulation of dendrodentritic synapses in the olfactory bulb and the role it plays in odor recognition and discrimination.

Where you attended undergrad and what your major/minor(s) were: University of Pittsburgh, majored in Neuroscience, minored in Chemistry and Studio Arts

What you did (if anything) between undergrad and grad school: went straight thru

What you like to do outside of school: Skiing, dancing, movies, going out on the town, eating yummy food, taking over the world...the usual
