Year you started the Neuroscience Program: 2004

Why you chose the UC Denver Neuroscience Program: I liked how the faculty members were approachable and collaborative. It was also close to family and friends.

What labs you rotated in: Curt Freed (summer), Jim Sikela (fall), Nancy Zahniser (winter), and Mike Browning (spring).

What lab you joined and why: Browning Lab, I liked the people in the lab, and thought Mike was a great mentor.

Short description of your project: I look at D1 receptor agonist and ethanol effects on NMDA trafficking and phosphorylation in the striatum.

Where you attended undergrad and what your major/minor(s) were: I attended Cuesta College for two years and California Polytechnic State University for a year and a half in San Luis Obispo, CA, I finished my last year and a half at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Majored in Biology and minored in Anatomy and Neurobiology (biomedical sciences).

What you did (if anything) between undergrad and grad school: I went to Europe and traveled around for a month.

Other school affiliated activities/clubs you are involved in: Front Range Neuroscience Committee, Rocky Mountain Regional Neuroscience Group, Alternatives in Science, Neuro Journal Club

What you like to do outside of school: I try to enjoy the high quality outdoor life Colorado offers. I camp and hike with my dogs. Recently, I have taken up golf. Read.
