UCH announces search for new president and CEO

The University of Colorado Hospital Authority Board of Directors has begun the search for a new president and CEO. Dennis Brimhall announced in February that he will be leaving in June to preside over a mission in his church. Last month, the hospital’s executive vice president, Joyce Cashman, was appointed interim president and CEO, starting upon Brimhall’s departure.

Dr. James Shore, chairman of the University of Colorado Hospital board and chancellor of the University of Colorado Denver, announced today the search committee and executive recruitment firm that will conduct the search, which is expected to take up to five months.

“We will put every effort into finding the best leader for this great hospital – someone who can continue to embody the vision that Dennis Brimhall and his executive team have brought to fruition at Fitzsimons,” Shore said.

The executive recruitment firm of Witt Kieffer, of Oakbrook, Ill., has been contracted to help identify and research candidates for the position.

After a request for proposal issued last month, eight firms responded, three of which were recommended as finalists. A board member and hospital executives then interviewed all three firms and recommended Witt Kieffer.

Members of the search committee are:
- Chancellor James Shore, MD, chair of the search committee
- Peter Coors, board member
- Dick Monfort, board member
- Tim Travis, board member
- Dr. Steven Ringel, president of the medical staff and board member
- Pat Hayes, CU Regent from the 7th Congressional district
- Dr. Robert Anderson, chairman of the CU Department of Medicine
- Teresa Berryman, UCD vice chancellor for Administration and Finance
- Joyce Cashman, executive vice president and interim president and CEO
