Health fairs help promote a healthy lifestyle

Health fairs are an effective way to provide valuable health information and screening services to large numbers of people in a convenient “one-stop shop” format. Volunteers are essential to staff and provide logistical support to the fairs.

Your time and talents, both medical and non-medical, are needed to help with various positions at upcoming community health fairs.

UCD has been a supporter of the Black Church Initiative Health Fair with several HSC providers participating in the annual event. This year’s Faith and Health Ministries Collaborative Health Fair is being held Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Renaissance Denver Hotel.

If you’d like to volunteer, contact Lucille Johnson at lucille@denverblackchurch.org

In the spring, volunteers will be needed to help provide free and low-cost health screenings for the University of Colorado Hospital’s 9HealthFair. Scheduled for Sunday, April 24, 6 a.m. to noon, this community health fair will be held at the University of Colorado Hospital’s Anschutz Centers for Advanced Medicine. There will also be volunteer opportunities to help with set-up on Saturday, April 23.

Volunteers for the 9HealthFair will receive a t-shirt, snacks and beverages. Contact Pam Welker at 303-724-5397 or Pamela.Welker@uch.edu to volunteer.
