Learn About the Great Trail System
Adjacent to Fitzsimons

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is another jewel in the necklace of trails that has made the metropolitan Denver area a national model for developing a linked regional trail system. This almost 14-mile public greenway connects the Platte River Greenway in Commerce City with the Highline Canal in Aurora.

Along the way, it passes through Denver and the former Stapleton International Airport site; and winds its way east to wrap around the north and east borders of the Fitzsimons site.

One of the areas of great activity along the Greenway is Sand Creek Park on the north end of the Fitzsimons redevelopment. Over 100 acres in size, when completed, Sand Creek Park will become one of Aurora's most significant parks. The vision for the park is to provide a comfortable, family and community-oriented park centered around Sand Creek, Tollgate Creek, and several new ponds.

The park and the greenway will link a region set of trails and open space and provide beautiful recreational areas for the employees and residents of the area.

Brown bag sessions are scheduled for January 13 and 14, for the campus communities to learn about the Sand Creek Regional Greenway adjacent to the Fitzsimons site:

Jan. 13, Bushnell Auditorium in Building 500, Fitzsimons campus
Jan. 14, Denison Auditorium, Ninth Ave. campus
