WHAT:

Advance media tours for the upcoming ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies for the Research Complex 1 at the University of Colorado Denver Fitzsimons campus in Aurora. Tours of the new $216 million biomedical research facility and components of the North and South Research Towers, including:

  • a bio molecular laboratory
  • the site and function of the future $5 million 900 NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) machine
  • a walk through of a linear equipment corridor and working lab constructed under an open lab concept
  • an overview of the history and future of the research complex
WHO:

Tom Blumenthal, PhD, professor and chairman of the CU School of Medicine's biochemistry and molecular genetics department, and Jerry Scezney, interim chief planning officer for the CU-Health Sciences Center.

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m.
WHERE: CU-Health Sciences Center's Fitzsimons campus, Research Complex 1, located west of Building 500 and north of the Cancer Pavilion. Members of the news media are to meet outside of the South Tower of the Research Complex 1. For the tour on Friday only, media parking will be available off of 17thAve. Please plan to enter the Fitzsimons campus at Ursula St. and turn left on 17th Avenue directly in front of the Barbara Davis Center under construction (the turn is located between the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute and Barbara Davis). Park directly on the south side of RC1 in the large dirt lot.
