CU Cancer Center Hosts Free Educational Event about Lung Cancer

AURORA (September 28, 2004) — The University of Colorado Cancer Center is hosting a free educational event for people with lung cancer and their loved ones on Tues., Oct. 19 from 7-9 p.m. in the Shore Family Forum conference room, located at the Nighthorse Campbell Building on the Fitzsimons campus of the University of Colorado Denver in Aurora, CO.

The two-hour workshop, "Frankly Speaking About Lung Cancer: Stepping Back to Take a Closer Look," will feature Dr. Karen Kelly, a renowned leader in thoracic oncology and Anne Leyba, NP, an oncology nurse, who will provide new information about lung cancer and encourage patients to build more proactive relationships with their health care team during recovery.

Susan DeWitt, a lung cancer survivor, will offer inspirational guidance about living with cancer. All participants will receive a free resource booklet updated and endorsed by The Wellness Community, CancerCare and the Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support and Education (ALCASE).
